Your Retirement Years

Most of us will partially rely on our savings during retirement. Other online financial calculators have you spending all of your money by ages 85 or 90 or your life expectancy.click for more information This is not good planning since, by definition, half of us will live past our life expectancy!

This is especially important for women as more than half will live past age 85. Actually, a 50-year old woman in excellent health has a 38% chance of living past age 90 and a 6% chance of living past 100. All of us must plan ahead -- probably farther than we think.

This calculator assumes you will make it to your retirement age and adjusts for expected future changes in mortality rates. If there are two of you, we assume that withdrawals do not begin until both of you are retired. For more information, click the drop-down links in the More Info box above.
